Foam acoustic panels for an apartment in Torpedohallen, Holmen

The 1950s concrete hall holds 67 homes today. Hz Flex 019-R at 20 mm follows the curved ceilings and is finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Torpedohallen on Holmen is a concrete hall from the 1950s that today holds 67 apartments. In one of them the curved ceilings are built in Hz Flex 019-R and finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03 by our partner DK Akustik Øst.

From torpedo hall to homes

The practice Vandkunsten has converted the hall with respect for its load-bearing structures. The apartments are open, with great ceiling heights, where concrete, glass and light play the leading roles – and where sound carries easily.

A flexible panel for curved ceilings

The apartment’s curved ceilings called for a panel that could follow the shape. Hz Flex 019-R is a flexible 20 mm panel of recycled foam, developed for curved surfaces, and the low thickness takes very little of the ceiling height.

The ceiling is finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, which gives a smooth, even surface with no visible joints or seams, so the curved ceiling reads as one calm surface.

A home with room to breathe

The owners, Mette Hartlev and Morten Kjærum, have talked about the apartment in Bo Bedre.
