Seamless acoustics since 2015

Hz Acoustic was founded in 2015 by Helge Hansen, a Norwegian on Danish soil with fifteen years in the acoustics trade behind him. He knew the problem: acoustic ceilings that showed themselves in the room, with perforations, joints and lost ceiling height. Seamless alternatives existed, but only at a high price, and they were built on a single panel type that did not suit every substrate.

The idea was simple: an unbroken surface that lets the architecture come forward. Today we have four systems, so there is a solution whether the ceiling is concrete, timber, curved or tight on height.

We are now behind more than 1,300 projects in Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands, and a few as far away as Japan and Dubai.

PRODUCTION

We manufacture ourselves

At the factory in Frederikshavn we manufacture most of our acoustic panels. We also produce Acoustic Plaster 09 from upcycled textile waste from a local laundry.

Our acoustic plaster can be repaired with no visible trace. That sounds like a detail, but it means a ceiling can last for decades — also when new services have to be run, or when an accident happens.

Our systems are fire-classified and sound-tested, and we keep the documentation up to date as building requirements change. All documentation is collected under Downloads.

DEVELOPMENT

We develop in our own laboratory

At the factory in Frederikshavn we have set up a laboratory where we test new material compositions, build-ups and surfaces before they become finished systems. We have a room for initial sound measurements, so we can judge a solution early in the process, before the panels go for final testing.

We do not develop behind closed doors. We invite architects and other professionals in, because the solutions that hold up in reality come out of the meeting between material knowledge and what construction actually asks for.

Hz PARTNERS

Installation by specialists

We do not install ourselves. Instead we work with a network of regular partners, most of whom work exclusively with Hz Acoustic’s systems.

That is a deliberate choice. Seamless acoustic plaster is a craft, and the result depends on whoever carries it out. Our partners are therefore not interchangeable subcontractors but specialists who know the systems inside out.

WORKPLACE

Room for more

We are around twenty people in Frederikshavn, and several of them are employed in flexi-jobs. Most came to us after a work placement, where together we found the hours and the role that fit, often in production.

Some are young people who need a way into working life. Others are adults who have to find a new direction after illness or a break in their lives. We build the workplace so there is room for both, because people give most when the setting suits them. You can feel it all the way out to the finished ceiling.
