Ascot Hotel in central Copenhagen occupies a former public bathhouse. The ceilings are built in Hz Basic 007 and Hz Flex 019 and finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03 by our partner DK Akustik Øst.
A bathhouse with its reliefs preserved
The building still carries traces of its past as a public bathhouse, among them classical reliefs with bathing motifs. The acoustic solution therefore could not alter the historic character of the rooms. The project was carried out with ERIK Arkitekter as sub-consultant.
Two panel types, one unbroken surface
The ceilings are built up with two panel types: Hz Basic 007, a 49 mm panel of mineral wool and glass granulate that is glued on, and Hz Flex 019, a flexible 20 mm panel that can follow curved surfaces and details in the older building.
Both are finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, which gives a smooth, even surface with no visible joints or seams – also in the transition between the two panel types.
Calm in a busy hotel
In a hotel, guests have to be able to relax and talk to each other without the sound carrying. The ceiling tames the reverberation, so the rooms feel calm without compromising the interior.
