Acoustic panels for ceilings and walls – four systems, no visible joints

Hz Acoustic develops and manufactures complete acoustic systems in Denmark. Each system pairs an acoustic panel with a finishing acoustic plaster, giving a perfectly smooth ceiling with no seams, joints or perforations. Choose the system by substrate, fixing method and ceiling height – the result is free of visible joints either way.

ACOUSTIC SYSTEMS

Choose your acoustic system

The four core systems differ in fixing method and material. All four are finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster, and the finished ceiling looks identical.

  • A2-s1, d0

Hz Basic

For solid, level substrates, glued directly onto concrete or plasterboard.

  • Highest sound absorption in the range
  • Fast installation, no mechanical fixings
  • Low build-up preserves ceiling height

SURFACE

The finish that ties the systems together

All four systems are finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster. That is what makes them look the same, whichever panel sits behind the surface.

  • Finish
  • Tintable
  • Repairable

Hz Acoustic Plaster

Spray-applied in two to three coats and acoustically transparent, so sound passes straight through to the panel behind. Can be tinted in most standard NCS and RAL colors.

SPECIAL SOLUTION

Renewal rather than replacement

Some acoustic ceilings do not need replacing – they need renewing. That is the job the four standard systems do not solve.

Wood wool ceilings that have darkened

The classic case: the ceiling has darkened over the years and may start to shed. Hz Acoustic Plaster 09 is sprayed straight onto it, and the ceiling is white and even again. The color can also be changed, to black for instance. No stripping out, and no waste.

Acoustic ceilings from other manufacturers

We regularly refresh ceilings finished with acoustic plaster from other manufacturers. For those we use Hz Acoustic Plaster C, which was developed for exactly this job and goes on over the existing surface.

DECISION GUIDE

How to choose the right acoustic system

Four questions will usually point you to the right system. If you are unsure, we are glad to look at the project with you.

1. What is the substrate?

Solid, level concrete or plasterboard → Hz Basic.
Battens, or a substrate that will not hold adhesive → Hz Dual or Hz Plus.
An existing acoustic ceiling to be renewed → Hz Renovare.

2. Is the ceiling level?

Curved, domed or complex surfaces → Hz Flex.
Gently curved ceilings can also be done with Hz Basic.

3. How much ceiling height can you give up?

20 mm → Hz Flex.
29 mm → Hz Basic 001 or Hz Dual 009.
49 mm gives the highest absorption → Hz Basic 007 or Hz Dual 011.

4. Who installs it?

Hz Basic, Dual and Flex are installed by our Hz Partners. Hz Plus is fitted by a carpenter following our installation guide.
Every system is plastered by our Hz Partners.

FAQ

Common questions about acoustic ceiling panels

Questions about colors, maintenance, installation time and recessing spotlights and curtain tracks are all answered on our FAQ page.

It is the substrate that decides, first and foremost. On solid, level concrete or plasterboard, Hz Basic is the quickest and cheapest to fit. If the panels have to be screwed in place, onto battens for example, choose Hz Dual or Hz Plus. If the ceiling is curved, or you can spare almost no ceiling height, Hz Flex is the answer. And if an existing acoustic ceiling is to be renewed rather than replaced, it is Hz Renovare.

The sound absorption is the same; what separates them is the fixing. Hz Basic is glued straight onto a solid, level substrate. Hz Dual is screwed through pre-drilled holes and is used where the substrate will not hold adhesive, or where the panels go up on battens.

29 mm (Hz Basic 001 and Hz Dual 009) is used where ceiling height has to be preserved. 49 mm (Hz Basic 007 and Hz Dual 011) gives the highest sound absorption and is recommended in rooms with very hard acoustics, such as restaurants, open-plan offices and large halls.

Yes. The substrate simply has to be sound and able to take adhesive. Loose or dirty surfaces are cleaned or primed before the panels go up.

Yes. There are EPDs to EN 15804+A2 for Hz Basic/Hz Dual, for Hz Plus and for Hz Acoustic Plaster 09. In addition there are LCA calculations for Basic and Dual combined with both plaster variants. Every document can be downloaded from the downloads page.
