– How we help shape the buildings of tomorrow.
With Denmark’s new national architecture policy, the Ministry of Culture, together with the Ministry of Social Affairs and Housing and the Ministry of Rural Districts, sets a clear and ambitious direction for the future of construction. The policy acts as a guide for municipalities, developers, and professionals across the industry, and it emphasises one central point: we must build with care.
At Hz Acoustic, we welcome this direction. The policy is not only an important step for Danish architecture; it also reinforces the values that have shaped our work from the beginning. Many of the dogmas now forming the foundation of Denmark’s architectural strategy are principles that have guided our development since the first Hz acoustic panel was produced.
This article outlines the structure of the policy and highlights how Hz Acoustic actively contributes to three of its key dogmas.
The national architecture policy focuses on strengthening the built environment across the country. It encourages more nature in cities, improved spatial planning, and better preservation of cultural heritage while promoting diverse housing solutions. At the same time, it highlights the importance of craftsmanship, material awareness, circular methods, and the need to care for buildings already in use.
As Minister of Culture Jakob Engel-Schmidt puts it: “We must build with care. Every time we build, we shape not only the present, but equally the future.” This perspective aligns closely with wider international movements in architecture and construction – and with Hz Acoustic’s approach to acoustic solutions that support responsible and future-focussed building practices.
The policy introduces eight dogmas for the architecture of the future. Hz Acoustic directly supports the first three:
Quality, universal design, and long-term durability
A beautiful room is not only something you see. It is something you experience – through calmness, good acoustics, and materials that complement the architecture. At Hz Acoustic, we work from the principle that aesthetics and performance belong together.
Our smooth, seamless acoustic ceilings are developed to integrate naturally into the architectural design rather than stand out as an added layer. They support universal design principles because they:
Care and beauty also relate to craftsmanship. Our acoustic panels and acoustic plaster are designed with precision, thoroughly tested, and developed to deliver stable, long-term performance. This focus aligns directly with the intention of the first dogma.
Extend building lifespans and avoid unnecessary demolition
One of the strongest messages in the policy is that demolition should be the last resort. More buildings must be preserved, transformed, and upgraded rather than replaced.
Hz Acoustic’s solutions are well suited for renovation and transformation projects. Our acoustic ceilings can:
This approach enables significant aesthetic and acoustic improvements without unnecessary resource consumption. It is especially relevant for the types of renovation projects now prioritised at national level, including schools, cultural buildings, sports facilities, and older residential properties.
Biobased materials and recycled content as a natural part of construction
The policy calls for increased use of circular methods and biobased materials across the construction sector. This is fully aligned with the materials and systems developed by Hz Acoustic.
Parts of our acoustic panels and acoustic plaster are made from 100% recycled textile waste, contributing to:
For us, circularity is not a distant goal but an active part of our development process. We continue to increase the use of recycled materials and expand our product lines with solutions that support more sustainable building practices.
The new architecture policy highlights the important role that material manufacturers play in shaping the built environment. Solutions like ours are no longer optional; they are essential elements in a future-proof approach to construction where aesthetics, wellbeing, and sustainability are considered together.
For us, the policy represents:
Our ambition is to provide acoustic solutions that offer architectural value, technical performance, and long-term benefits for users and society.
The policy underlines that the future of architecture is shaped locally – in municipalities, by advisors, and by the professionals building Denmark every day. Hz Acoustic aims to be an active partner in this process.
As construction moves towards more circular, transformative, and carefully designed solutions, manufacturers must be at the forefront. That is the position we take. We continue to develop new systems, optimise our processes, and participate in dialogue about how our acoustic solutions can support the future direction of Danish architecture.
The new architecture policy provides direction. We contribute with action.
We are proud to deliver solutions that already support several of the most important dogmas for the architecture of tomorrow. We look forward to contributing to a more sustainable, more refined, and more future-ready built environment together with architects, advisors, and municipalities across the country.
