– A flexible acoustic ceiling that matches design, flavor, and conversation
In the heart of vibrant downtown Copenhagen, Restaurant Levi has opened its doors to a dining experience beyond the ordinary. Here, the best of two worlds meet: Italian warmth and Japanese precision, united in a design universe that is as experimental as the menu itself. And just as important as the beautiful materials and subtle details is the atmosphere created in the room – where sound plays a decisive role.
But how do you achieve good acoustics in a space full of architectural challenges – not least a ceiling filled with semi-circular domes and organic shapes?
The answer: flexible acoustic panels from Hz Acoustic.
Levi’s interiors are a dream for design lovers – and a nightmare for poor acoustics. The semi-circular ceiling shapes and hard surfaces created a clear challenge: how to maintain the aesthetic expression without compromising the sound environment.
The solution was our Hz Flex acoustic panels, which, thanks to their flexibility, can easily adapt to both convex and concave surfaces. The panels were used across the entire ceiling, including the many elegant domes, and finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, which provides a smooth, continuous surface without visible seams or joints. The result is an acoustic ceiling that is both invisible and indispensable.
Behind Restaurant Levi stand Jesper Boelskifte, Peter Trauboth, and Mikkel Glahn – three experienced figures from Copenhagen’s restaurant scene who wanted to create a new kind of dining house: informal, yet of the highest quality. Designer Johannes Torpe was brought on board, and his vision was clear: the space should be felt – and it should live.
The lively bar, the conversations at the tables, and the buzzing atmosphere are not coincidences. It took a ceiling capable of absorbing sound without interfering with the experience. With Hz Flex and Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, the result is a space where both food and conversation have room to unfold.
Hz Flex is a flexible acoustic panel ideal for spaces where aesthetics and acoustics must go hand in hand. In Levi’s case, the flexible structure made it possible to adapt the ceiling in all its forms while ensuring that guests never have to raise their voices to be heard.
Acoustics are often invisible, but at Restaurant Levi, they can be felt in the atmosphere: in the calm of conversation, the intimacy at the tables, and the ability to enjoy food, wine, and company without being overwhelmed by noise.
At Hz Acoustic, we love when acoustics and aesthetics come together. Restaurant Levi is living proof of how the right acoustic ceiling, using flexible acoustic panels, can elevate the entire experience. Not through grand gestures, but through precision, respect for design, and an understanding of how sound shapes a space.
Let us help you find the right acoustic solution – for domes, edges, and challenging soundscapes alike.
