Acoustic ceilings in historic surroundings at Nordstens Hus in Hillerød

Acoustic ceilings in historic surroundings at Nordstens Hus in Hillerød – From industrial factory to modern workspace with respect for detail In the centre of Hillerød’s pedestrian street, you will find Nordstens Hus – a historic property that has been transformed into a modern shared workspace. Behind the transformation is Frederiksborg Gruppen, which, with more than 65 years of experience, has delivered a project where past and present come together with great respect for the building’s history. At Hz Acoustic, we have supplied acoustic solutions for the project, where the ambition was clear: to create modern comfort and good acoustics without compromising the original architectural details. The result is a building where acoustic ceilings form a natural part of the architecture and support the overall spatial experience. Click here to read more about the project A building with history in its walls Nordstens Hus, located at Slotsgade 13–15, dates back to 1886, when the building served as the headquarters of Nordsten’s factory – one of Northern Europe’s leading manufacturers of seed drills. For more than 100 years, products were developed here and exported worldwide. Today, the building has been carefully restored in collaboration with the National Museum of Denmark, and many original details have been preserved. These include exposed beams, high vaulted ceilings, and historical features such as a framed ceiling painting that offers a unique glimpse into the building’s origins in the 19th century. Projects like this require a careful balance between old and new. Acoustic ceilings that respect the architecture To ensure a good working environment in the new office spaces, we supplied a combination of Hz Plus 027+ and Hz Basic 007, both finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03. The solution creates a smooth, seamless acoustic ceiling that integrates discreetly into the historic surroundings. The ceiling acts as a calm backdrop, allowing the original details to stand out rather than competing with them. In spaces with exposed beams and high ceilings, acoustics can often be a challenge. Here, the acoustic ceiling helps to reduce reverberation and create a comfortable sound environment—an essential factor in modern office spaces where focus and collaboration go hand in hand. A modern workspace with a focus on community Nordstens Workspace is more than just offices. It is a dynamic environment where businesses and people meet in inspiring surroundings. With contributions from, among others, HAY, who have been responsible for the interior design, workspaces have been created to support new ways of working. Light, materials, and acoustics all play a central role in shaping the experience of the space. Frederiksborg Gruppen’s mantra – “We do things properly” – is clearly reflected throughout the project. From the overall concept to the smallest details, quality and respect for the building’s heritage are evident. A dialogue between past and present The project has been carried out by our experienced partner DK Akustik, ensuring a precise and high-quality installation. In collaboration with Møgelhøj Arkitekter, a solution has been created where modern acoustics and historic architecture work together. Nordstens Hus stands today as a strong example of how an industrial building can be transformed into a modern workspace without losing its identity. On the contrary, the building’s history has become an integral part of the experience. At Hz Acoustic, these are exactly the types of projects that demonstrate how acoustics, aesthetics, and technology can work together as one. Acoustic ceiling in new extension by Sølvsten Arkitektur

Acoustic ceiling in new extension by Sølvsten Arkitektur When a home is expanded with a new extension, the ambition is often to create a space that feels like a natural continuation of the existing building while also adding something new: more space, more daylight, improved functionality, and a stronger architectural coherence. In this project, designed by Sølvsten Arkitektur, this balance has been achieved with great precision and the choice of acoustic ceiling plays a central role. The extension is designed as a harmonious continuation of the original house, where a subtle shift in floor level creates a refined transition between old and new. This small step generates a generous ceiling height in the new kitchen-living space, increasing both the spatial volume and the sense of lightness and movement. The large glazed openings draw daylight deeply into the room and further into the rest of the home, which makes the acoustic environment an essential part of the overall experience. At the same time, the acoustic solution must not disrupt the architectural vision. To meet these requirements, the extension has been completed using a combination of Hz Plus gypsum acoustic panels and our finest Hz Acoustic Plaster 03. The Hz Plus acoustic panels ensure effective sound absorption throughout the space, including areas with high activity levels, hard materials, and strong sound reflections. On top of the panels, Hz Acoustic Plaster 03 provides a completely smooth, uniform, and elegant ceiling surface without visible joints. The result is a calm, cohesive expression that supports the architecture while maintaining excellent acoustic comfort. Together, the system creates an acoustic ceiling that enhances both the aesthetics of the room and the everyday experience – even when the kitchen is in use, the children are playing, and the family gathers in one shared space. An extension with architectural calm and material depth Sølvsten Arkitektur has worked with a refined, muted material palette in which each surface has its purpose and contributes to the tactile quality of the space. The rendered brickwork, the warm timber cladding, and the deep anodised overhang create a balanced exterior, beautifully connected to the garden through the large window sections. Inside, the same tactile approach continues. Here, the soft, organic texture of microcement meets cooler steel details, while textile elements filter the light and add a discreet atmosphere. In this interplay between the raw and the refined, the acoustic ceiling becomes a natural part of the whole. The ceiling appears as a calm, cohesive surface that ties the space together and supports the subtle, modern atmosphere that defines the extension. An acoustic ceiling with purpose The extension appears as a quiet and carefully considered architectural addition that respects the existing home while adding a new layer of contemporary functionality. Acoustics are not an afterthought here, but an integrated part of the design. By combining Hz Plus gypsum acoustic panels with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, the family gains a smooth, seamless, and highly effective acoustic ceiling that makes the large kitchen-living area welcoming, comfortable to spend time in, and well suited for everyday life as well as social gatherings. Acoustic ceilings at ARoS

Salling Galleriet, ARoS

Acoustic ceilings at ARoS – where art and acoustics go hand in hand. At ARoS Art Museum in Aarhus, architecture, art, and acoustics come together in two exceptional projects featuring world-class acoustic solutions delivered by Hz Acoustic. The new acoustic ceilings at ARoS form part of the museum’s major extension, which includes an underground gallery and The Dome, a Skyspace by James Turrell. The extension is designed by Schmidt Hammer Lassen, and contractor Aarsleff is responsible for the build. The elegant acoustic ceilings have been installed by our skilled partner, DK Akustik Vest. The project consists of two unique components: the open, atmospheric Art Square, leading visitors towards James Turrell’s artpiece The Dome, a Skyspace, and the underground Salling Gallery, a new 1,000 m² exhibition space for large-scale contemporary art. Click here to read more about the project A passage leading into the light In the new Art Square – the transitional space guiding visitors into Turrell’s iconic ‘The Dome, a Skyspace by James Turrell’ installation – light, volume, and acoustics are balanced with great care. Here, we supplied Hz Plus acoustic panels, finished with our Hz Acoustic Plaster 03 to create a smooth, seamless surface. The plaster is particularly well suited for organic and curved geometries, such as the circular skylight that brings daylight into the space and generates an almost meditative atmosphere. Along the walls, precisely fitted edge trims provide a sharp, refined finish that follows the gentle curve of the passage. The result is a calm, cohesive surface in which the ceiling becomes a natural part of the architecture, supporting the spatial experience rather than dominating it. At the same time, the acoustic ceiling ensures a pleasant sound environment, allowing visitors to move towards the artwork in quiet contemplation – fully aligned with the intention behind Turrell’s light installation. The Salling Gallery – 1,000 m² beneath the ground The second part of the project is the Salling Gallery, an underground exhibition hall of 1,000 square metres. Here, a raw, industrial concrete setting forms the backdrop for large-scale international contemporary art. For this space, we supplied Hz Dual 011-R acoustic panels, made from upcycled textile waste, together with Hz Acoustic Plaster 09, which also contains finely processed textile waste – including recycled bedsheets from a local laundry. The plaster is tinted and adjusted to match the architectural expression of the room, giving the surface depth and character without compromising sound absorption. The combination of recycled materials and advanced acoustic technology results in a ceiling that unites sustainability, function, and aesthetics – a perfect match for ARoS’ ambition to merge art and architecture. The acoustic ceiling improves the reverberation conditions in the large gallery and supports an environment where sound, light, and artistic immersion are in balance. The architecture frames the art rather than competing with it. An acoustic contribution to Danish cultural heritage With the expansion of ARoS and the opening of The Dome and the Salling Gallery, the museum adds a new chapter to the cultural landscape of Aarhus. For us at Hz Acoustic, it is a privilege to contribute to a project where sound, light, and materials are considered integral to the overall artistic experience. Whether in a light-filled passage or in a raw subterranean gallery, the project demonstrates how modern acoustic solutions can be adapted to any architectural expression – from the understated to the monumental. Gypsum acoustic ceiling in a modern villa with a view and understated elegance

Hz Acoustic acoustic ceiling. Sølvsten Arkitektur

Gypsum acoustic ceiling in a modern villa with a view and understated elegance – A ceiling that creates calm without stealing attention. When architecture and landscape blend together, every detail must work in perfect harmony – including the acoustics. This is beautifully illustrated in this modern villa designed by Sølvsten Arkitektur, where clean lines, quality materials, and open views take center stage. Here, Hz Acoustic has delivered a gypsum acoustic ceiling that creates a calm and comfortable sound environment without drawing attention away from the home’s architectural qualities. The project was carried out in close collaboration with DK Akustik Vest, resulting in a home where function and aesthetics go hand in hand. Click here to read more about the project Katrine Sølvsten www.soelvsten-arkitektur.dk+45 20 44 99 18ks@soelvsten-arkitektur.dkPorsvej 6, 8220 BrabrandCVR 39466155 See our projects with Sølvsten Arkitektur here: A home in dialogue with the landscape The villa is inspired by Danish neighboring houses from the 1960s and 70s but reinterpreted in a contemporary architectural language. The architect has created a home that is both modern and timeless, with a strong focus on light, materials, and detail. From the road, you arrive under an elegant canopy, and through the entrance, the house opens up to the south with sweeping views of the landscape. All living areas have direct access to the terraces, and large panoramic windows draw nature right into the home. The light-colored brick facade continues from the exterior into the interior spaces, where materials and horizontal lines create a seamless transition between indoors and outdoors. This is architecture that invites calm and presence – and precisely for that reason, an acoustically optimized ceiling was a crucial element. Gypsum acoustic ceiling – discreet comfort in architectural harmony The project features Hz Plus 027+ gypsum acoustic panels combined with our Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, which provides a smooth, uniform surface without visible joints. Our gypsum acoustic ceilings are a popular choice in modern villas because they combine easy installation, high acoustic performance, and a price point that makes them attractive for both architectural and private projects. The ceiling ensures effective sound absorption in the large, open spaces, particularly in the kitchen-living area and living room, where hard surfaces such as stone, glass, and steel could otherwise cause echo and noise. At the same time, the ceiling appears completely calm and seamless, allowing the focus to remain on the view, the materials, and the architectural lines. With its smooth plastered surface, Hz Acoustic Plaster 03 supports the villa’s clean design language. The ceiling appears light and elegant and helps create a harmonious connection between the home’s other materials – from wood and marble in the kitchen to Kolumba brick in the living room. Integrated details with function and finesse Behind the simple appearance lie carefully thought-out details. Curtain rails are integrated along the large window sections, allowing the curtains to be drawn without disrupting the visual calm. Spotlights are elegantly built into the ceiling, enabling the lighting to be adjusted according to each room’s function without disturbing the overall aesthetic. Even sliding doors are integrated into walls and ceilings so that everything appears minimalist and cohesive. Nothing is left to chance. The ceiling acts as a discreet yet indispensable element that ties the entire home together – both visually and acoustically. A ceiling that completes the architecture In the villa’s kitchen-living area, there is a calm balance between warm and cool materials. The light wooden flooring contrasts beautifully with marble, steel, and glass. In this interplay, the ceiling helps create cohesion – a neutral canvas that enhances the light and the home’s connection to the surrounding nature. With a gypsum acoustic ceiling from Hz Acoustic, you don’t just get a functional ceiling, but an integrated part of the architectural experience. Sound and aesthetics merge in a result that is both beautiful and comfortable – exactly as the architecture intends. Seamless acoustic ceiling for Baks Arkitekter

Baks Arkitekter

Seamless acoustic ceiling for Baks Arkitekter At Baks Arkitekter in Egå, Denmark, every detail has been carefully considered – from material choices to spatial transitions and the overall atmosphere. When architects design for themselves, the demands are higher, and aesthetics, function, and sustainability must merge seamlessly. That’s why we at Hz Acoustic are particularly proud to have delivered seamless acoustic ceilings for the architecture studio’s own offices. The project is a great example of how modern acoustic solutions can be integrated naturally into a minimalist and meticulously designed space. Here, Baks Arkitekter chose products that support their Scandinavian design language and focus on wholeness and materiality. Acoustic ceilings with depth and texture For the studio, a combination of the following acoustic panels was chosen: Hz Plus 027+ – a perforated gypsum panel pre-treated with acoustic felt, ensuring effective sound absorption while creating an even surface. Hz Dual 011 acoustic panels – one of our most efficient solutions for sound absorption. The panel consists of 40 mm mineral wool and 9 mm glass granulate and features four precisely positioned screw holes with matching plugs. With a total thickness of 49 mm, it provides high sound reduction and is mounted securely with screws, making it particularly suitable for professional environments such as studios and offices. Hz Acoustic Plaster 09 – a textured acoustic plaster containing recycled cotton waste from the textile industry, offering a rich, tactile surface while maintaining a seamless, joint-free finish. Our acoustic solution not only creates visual calm but also delivers a significant improvement in the room’s acoustic quality. In a design studio, where concentration, dialogue, and creativity go hand in hand, the sound environment must support the rhythm of daily work – and the seamless acoustic ceiling is a natural choice. The acoustic plaster Hz 09 also contains cotton waste from the textile industry, contributing to more responsible material use. This underlines the holistic approach that both Hz Acoustic and Baks Arkitekter share when it comes to sustainability, aesthetics, and function in a single solution. When architects choose acoustics with care Since 2004, Baks Arkitekter has worked with both architecture and interior design and has built a reputation for their holistic approach. The studio is characterized by a Nordic aesthetic, where simplicity, functionality, and material quality interact – and this is very much reflected in their own workspace as well. What makes this project particularly special is that the architects themselves chose the solution. This places high demands on precision, surface quality, and technical performance. For that reason, the seamless acoustic ceiling was an obvious choice – allowing the space to speak for itself while supporting the overarching architectural vision. Here, the ceiling becomes more than a technical necessity; it becomes an integral part of the architectural expression. The result is a discreet and smooth surface that emphasizes the room’s lines and lets the light play naturally – without visual interruptions. A solution for the workplaces of the future A well-designed office environment is not just about furniture and layout – it’s also about the invisible qualities that define everyday well-being. Good acoustics are essential for productivity and comfort, especially in creative workspaces. With products from Hz Acoustic, Baks Arkitekter has created a setting where architecture and acoustics work in harmony, and the ceiling plays both a technical and aesthetic role. Acoustic ceiling and sharp lines at Hages Badehotel

Hages Badehotel

Acoustic ceiling and sharp lines at Hages Badehotel Hz Acoustic has supplied the acoustic ceilings for Hages Badehotel – a sustainable hotel development built on piles. In the peaceful coastal landscape near Rødbyhavn on the island of Lolland lies Hages Badehotel – a unique and sustainable construction created with great care for the surrounding nature. Every architectural decision has been made with respect for the environment, and the same goes for the choice of interior materials. For that reason, Hz Acoustic was chosen as the supplier of acoustic ceilings for the project. Hages Badehotel was designed by Miami Ark Architects and consists of 72 detached buildings as well as a main building housing the reception, lounge, restaurant, and bar. Everything is built on piles to protect the ground, minimize environmental impact, and create a sustainable foundation for the future. The architectural expression combines modern simplicity with functional aesthetics – and this is precisely where our acoustic panels have played a key role. An acoustic solution that matches the architectural expression When entering the buildings at Hages Badehotel, you immediately feel a sense of calm – not only because of the location but also because of the pleasant acoustics. Sound plays a vital role in the overall experience of any building, especially in spaces where guests should be able to relax, talk, or enjoy their meals in peace. Achieving this requires solutions that are both effective and aesthetically integrated. For this project, we supplied Hz Dual 011, an efficient acoustic panel made from mineral wool and glass granulate. The panel is screwed directly to the ceiling and has a total thickness of 49 mm. It is particularly well suited for buildings with large, open spaces where high sound absorption is desired without compromising on design. Together with Hz Plus 027+, a perforated gypsum panel pre-treated with acoustic felt, and a final surface coating of Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, we created a smooth, seamless acoustic ceiling that integrates naturally into the architecture. The result is a bright, homogeneous ceiling with excellent acoustic performance and no visible joints or seams. Floating ceilings and precise detailing A distinctive feature of the ceilings at Hages Badehotel is their visual lightness. This effect is achieved in part through the extensive use of custom-made edge profiles that create sharp, clean lines and precise finishes. The result is a ceiling that appears to float, supporting the light and elegant architecture. This is a detail that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also technically demanding – requiring materials and products that work perfectly together. Here, the combination of our acoustic panels and acoustic plaster once again proved its value. Acoustic ceilings in harmony with sustainability The entire Hages Badehotel project is characterized by a consistent and well-considered sustainable approach – and this extends to the choice of interior materials as well. Our acoustic ceilings contribute not only to the visual and acoustic comfort but also represent a durable solution that requires minimal maintenance. With high sound absorption, a discreet appearance, and long lifespan, Hz Acoustic acoustic panels are an ideal choice when form and function must go hand in hand in sustainable construction – even in sensitive natural areas. Gypsum acoustic panels with a sharp finish in a reinterpretation of the four-winged farmhouse

Verna - Four-winged farmhouse

Gypsum acoustic panels with a sharp finish in a reinterpretation of the four-winged farmhouse When traditional building methods and modern functionality meet, something truly special happens. That is exactly the case with the Four-Winged Farmhouse project outside Odense, designed by the architectural firm Verna, where tradition and innovation go hand in hand – not least in the choice of ceiling solution. As a supplier to the project, Hz Acoustic contributed with an acoustic solution that supports the house’s aesthetic and functional ambitions. Using Hz Plus 027+ gypsum acoustic panels, finished with our Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, a smooth and seamless acoustic ceiling has been created that integrates elegantly into the bright, whitewashed rooms. A modern home with deep roots The four-winged farmhouse is a newly built residence inspired by traditional Danish farmsteads, characterized by a closed structure and four wings surrounding a central courtyard. With great precision and respect for the region’s building traditions, Verna has created a home where everything from materials to proportions draws on a vernacular expression – but interpreted in a contemporary and refined way. The home’s central kitchen and living area form the heart of the house. Here, open spaces, large windows, and carefully selected materials come together – and the ceiling plays a key role in tying it all into a cohesive whole. Even if it’s not the first thing one notices, the ceiling’s quality and surface make a decisive difference to the room’s overall atmosphere. Gypsum acoustic panels with precision and finesse For this project, the choice fell on Hz Plus 027+, a perforated gypsum acoustic panel pre-treated with acoustic felt. The panels ensure both effective sound absorption and an aesthetic expression that aligns with the architect’s vision of clean surfaces and discreet detailing. The final finish with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03 completes the look, resulting in a white, smooth acoustic ceiling that doesn’t draw attention but significantly contributes to the room’s acoustic comfort. A distinctive feature of this project is the use of edge trims, which create sharp endings and a sense of visual lightness. The ceiling seems almost to float above the rooms, underlining the house’s simple and precise architectural style. Integrated curtain rails are also seamlessly incorporated into the ceiling, adding another elegant detail that demonstrates how function and aesthetics unite perfectly. When acoustics and architecture go hand in hand Verna is known for its deep understanding of place, tradition, and materiality, and it has been a pleasure for us to deliver a ceiling solution that technically and aesthetically matches the ambitions of the project. Gypsum acoustic panels are often associated with standard solutions, but the four-winged farmhouse shows how, with the right products and skilled craftsmanship, it is possible to achieve a result that is both discreet, functional, and architecturally strong. At Hz Acoustic, we are proud to be part of this project, where both form and function have been considered all the way through – from gate to acoustic plaster.
