Acoustic ceilings in historic surroundings at Nordstens Hus in Hillerød

Acoustic ceilings in historic surroundings at Nordstens Hus in Hillerød – From industrial factory to modern workspace with respect for detail In the centre of Hillerød’s pedestrian street, you will find Nordstens Hus – a historic property that has been transformed into a modern shared workspace. Behind the transformation is Frederiksborg Gruppen, which, with more than 65 years of experience, has delivered a project where past and present come together with great respect for the building’s history. At Hz Acoustic, we have supplied acoustic solutions for the project, where the ambition was clear: to create modern comfort and good acoustics without compromising the original architectural details. The result is a building where acoustic ceilings form a natural part of the architecture and support the overall spatial experience. Click here to read more about the project A building with history in its walls Nordstens Hus, located at Slotsgade 13–15, dates back to 1886, when the building served as the headquarters of Nordsten’s factory – one of Northern Europe’s leading manufacturers of seed drills. For more than 100 years, products were developed here and exported worldwide. Today, the building has been carefully restored in collaboration with the National Museum of Denmark, and many original details have been preserved. These include exposed beams, high vaulted ceilings, and historical features such as a framed ceiling painting that offers a unique glimpse into the building’s origins in the 19th century. Projects like this require a careful balance between old and new. Acoustic ceilings that respect the architecture To ensure a good working environment in the new office spaces, we supplied a combination of Hz Plus 027+ and Hz Basic 007, both finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03. The solution creates a smooth, seamless acoustic ceiling that integrates discreetly into the historic surroundings. The ceiling acts as a calm backdrop, allowing the original details to stand out rather than competing with them. In spaces with exposed beams and high ceilings, acoustics can often be a challenge. Here, the acoustic ceiling helps to reduce reverberation and create a comfortable sound environment—an essential factor in modern office spaces where focus and collaboration go hand in hand. A modern workspace with a focus on community Nordstens Workspace is more than just offices. It is a dynamic environment where businesses and people meet in inspiring surroundings. With contributions from, among others, HAY, who have been responsible for the interior design, workspaces have been created to support new ways of working. Light, materials, and acoustics all play a central role in shaping the experience of the space. Frederiksborg Gruppen’s mantra – “We do things properly” – is clearly reflected throughout the project. From the overall concept to the smallest details, quality and respect for the building’s heritage are evident. A dialogue between past and present The project has been carried out by our experienced partner DK Akustik, ensuring a precise and high-quality installation. In collaboration with Møgelhøj Arkitekter, a solution has been created where modern acoustics and historic architecture work together. Nordstens Hus stands today as a strong example of how an industrial building can be transformed into a modern workspace without losing its identity. On the contrary, the building’s history has become an integral part of the experience. At Hz Acoustic, these are exactly the types of projects that demonstrate how acoustics, aesthetics, and technology can work together as one. Smooth acoustic ceiling in minimalist modern villa

Smooth acoustic ceiling in minimalist modern villa When architecture, materials, and details come together in harmony, homes are created where aesthetics and functionality work side by side. This is exactly the case in this 430 m² modern villa in Zealand, Denmark, where homeowner Lise Henriksen and her husband have created a residence defined by a clean, minimalist style and a clear attention to detail. At Hz Acoustic, we delivered approximately 165 m² of acoustic ceiling to the home’s hall, corridor, living room, kitchen, and one of the bathrooms. Our partner Akustiknord carried out the installation, where acoustics and aesthetics have been integrated as a natural part of the architectural design. Click here to read more about the project An acoustic ceiling that supports the minimalist style In a home with such a refined and minimalist architectural expression, it is important that the ceiling does not draw attention away from the other elements of the space. For this reason, our Hz Basic acoustic panel 001 was selected. The panel consists of a 30mm mineral wool core combined with a glass granulate board. The panels are finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, creating a smooth and uniform surface without visible joints. The result is a calm ceiling that appears as one continuous surface and supports the minimalist architectural language of the house. The smooth finish fits naturally into modern architecture, where lines, proportions, and materials are carefully balanced. Carefully integrated installations One of the most interesting details in the project is the plaster-integrated speakers in the kitchen and living room. The speakers are integrated directly into the ceiling and finished with acoustic plaster, making them completely invisible. For those interested in this solution, Hz Acoustic collaborates with Luxtek, a distributor of Sonance speakers that can be integrated directly into our acoustic ceilings. The speakers are installed within the ceiling and then finished with acoustic plaster, making them invisible while allowing sound to pass through the surface. The result is a discreet solution where sound technology and architecture merge without disrupting the aesthetics of the space. The project is characterised by a high level of detailing. The ceiling includes several integrated spotlights and lighting outlets, carefully positioned to provide balanced illumination throughout the rooms. Along the window sections, sharp transitions have been created at the curtain recesses, where the curtains are integrated into the architecture. These precise details reinforce the clean architectural expression of the house and contribute to a refined and cohesive result. Such detailing requires both careful planning and high craftsmanship during installation, something that in this project has been achieved through close collaboration between the homeowner, craftsmen, and installer. Acoustics as a natural part of the architecture Modern homes with large open spaces, hard surfaces, and expansive windows can often present acoustic challenges. In these environments, an acoustic ceiling plays a key role in everyday comfort. With Hz Basic acoustic panels 001 combined with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, the ceiling effectively absorbs sound and reduces reverberation while maintaining the architectural expression. The result is a home where the sound environment remains comfortable, even in large living areas, and where the ceiling forms a natural and discreet part of the overall design. A home where the details make the difference The project at Lise Henriksen’s home is a clear example of how acoustics can be integrated into modern residential architecture without dominating the space. Instead, the ceiling acts as a refined backdrop that highlights the home’s materials, light, and architectural lines. From the invisible speakers to the precise detailing at the curtain recesses, every element has been carefully considered. At Hz Acoustic, these are exactly the types of projects that demonstrate how acoustics, aesthetics, and technology can work together as one. Acoustic panels in historic surroundings: Smooth acoustic ceiling for Kuglegården

Acoustic panels in historic surroundings: Smooth acoustic ceiling for Kuglegården When you step into the newly restored buildings at Kuglegården on Holmen, you immediately sense a unique combination of history and modernity. Behind the renovation is Byggeselskab Mogens de Linde, which, with great respect and care for the original structure, has brought the former naval arsenal from 1741 back to life. Where cannonballs once lay neatly arranged in the courtyard, modern companies now occupy the space, many of them working in design and technology. In this transformation from naval base to creative business environment, Hz Acoustic has supplied smooth acoustic ceilings that both support the functionality of the rooms and preserve their original architectural details. Our skilled installer, DK Akustik, handled the installation, mounting, and plastering work. Smooth acoustic ceiling without hiding history One of the most striking and historically valuable features of Kuglegården is its many visible ceiling beams. They carry the building’s history and give the rooms character and authenticity. It was therefore essential that the acoustic solution did not draw attention away from or conceal these historical details. Our Hz Basic 001 acoustic panels, combined with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, were the ideal choice. With a total thickness of just around 32 mm, the panels could be placed between the beams, allowing the original structures to remain clearly visible. The result is a smooth acoustic ceiling that integrates seamlessly into the architecture and creates visual calm without compromising the building’s expression. Adapted to an uneven foundation In a listed building from the mid-1700s, nothing is perfectly straight – and this is especially true of the ceilings. Here, our solution shows another advantage: Hz Basic panels are flexible and can adapt to the shape of the substrate. This made it possible to create a uniform, joint-free, and smooth ceiling, even where the surfaces have slight variations and curves. This feature makes our acoustic panels ideal for restoration projects where one seeks modern comfort and functionality without compromising the building’s original structure and aesthetic integrity. Modern acoustics in historic buildings Kuglegården’s new role as offices and showrooms places high demands on acoustics. Large rooms with hard surfaces and historical materials can easily create sound challenges. With our solution, the acoustics are now excellent – without the visual expression being affected. Users experience a pleasant and calm sound environment that makes it easy to concentrate, collaborate, and spend time in the rooms for longer periods. A project carried out with care The restoration of Kuglegården was completed, as Mogens de Linde himself puts it, “with both work gloves and velvet gloves.” It’s about care, knowledge, and quality in every step. We are proud to have contributed to the project with an acoustic solution that lives up to those same principles. Our acoustic panels and smooth acoustic ceilings are created specifically for projects like this – where aesthetics and function must be united in respect for history. Elegant acoustic ceiling in the iconic Vipp Chimney House

Elegant acoustic ceiling in the iconic Vipp Chimney House In the heart of Nordhavn’s industrial charm lies an architectural gem with a remarkable history. Vipp Chimney House, built in 1902 as a water pumping station and reborn as a design icon, now serves as an exclusive guesthouse that unites industrial expression with modern luxury. Behind the transformation stands Studio David Thulstrup, who, with respect for the building’s original character, has created a complete living experience where design and function go hand in hand. For this unique project, we delivered a custom acoustic solution with a focus on both aesthetics and acoustic comfort. An acoustic ceiling that matches the architecture of the space In a room with 8.5-meter-high ceilings and an open view to the chimney through a large skylight, more than beautiful materials are needed. The sound environment must support the overall sense of calm and balance – especially in a home that is meant to feel both exclusive and relaxed. That’s why the choice fell on our Hz Basic 007 acoustic panels, combined with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03, which together create a smooth acoustic ceiling without visible joints or seams. Hz Basic 007 is a 49 mm acoustic panel made of mineral wool (40 mm) laminated with 9 mm glass granulate, glued directly onto a solid surface and then finished with Hz Acoustic Plaster 03.The panel is particularly suitable for projects that call for a robust, fully glued solution with high sound absorption and a smooth, uniform surface. The result is a visual calm that complements the house’s stringent aesthetics while ensuring a pleasant acoustic experience in the large, open spaces. The smooth ceiling enhances the overall architectural composition, where materials such as steel, terrazzo, and glass meet in a clean, cohesive expression. As part of the discreet and integrated design, built-in curtain rails have also been incorporated into the ceilings, elegantly blending into the overall look. Design and acoustics in perfect harmony Hz Basic 007 provides high acoustic comfort in a solid and stable construction. The solution is ideal for projects such as Vipp Chimney House, where maximum comfort and function are required without compromising the architectural vision. With the high ceilings and hard surfaces, the space could easily have been affected by echo and poor acoustics, but with the right acoustic panel and our fine plaster finish, the sound environment is now balanced and unobtrusive. When entering Vipp Chimney House, one immediately senses the special atmosphere – a balance between the raw industrial aesthetic and the warmth of a home. Everything is carefully curated: from the curved steel-framed doors and custom terrazzo floors to the artworks and Vipp products.
